Did Martin design these guitars or just put his name to them?
Martin designed them and then worked with Peerless guitars to first create the prototypes and then the finished product. The whole process from design to Martin receiving the first of the guitars took around a year.
-
How would you describe the difference in tone between the Maestro and the Virtuoso?
Check out the FAQ video above for this.
-
Do the Maestro and Virtuoso feel different to play?
No, they feel very similar to play and Martin uses them both in the studio and on stage.
-
Why aren't these guitars fitted with a tone control?
Martin wanted to ensure the sound was as pure as possible and then adjust any tones using a pre-amp or amp.
-
How do you amplify the guitars?
Martin uses a Martin Taylor signature pre-am made by Dennis Marshall or an AER guitar amp. However these guitars also sound great just DI’d into the house.
-
Are the guitars set-up before they are shipped?
Yes, if you purchase a Martin Taylor guitar via this site, the guitar will be set up by the same technician who works on Martin’s personal guitars.
-
Does Martin actual use these guitars live and in the studio?
Absolutely. They are Martin’s favorite guitars.
