“I had a great time here meeting all of these wonderful people who have so much talent. It’s been a great experience. They gave us private lessons, kind of, because I’m a beginner, and they were so kind. Thank you. As a beginner you get to meet so many people who are so helpful to you. Like I said, Martin took his time to come over to us and some of the beginners, and tried to give us special attention, so it was wonderful.” – Patricia Lum, California, USA

“I’m having a great time here. The camaraderie is great. I’m getting to compare notes with all the other fine players. Being up close and personal with Peppino and Martin, and being able to get into a Q and A with them, and really work out questions that I’ve had, and it’s fabulous. It’s fun. It’s very laid back, and everybody is just so friendly and hospitable.” Kent Gunderson, USA

“I’ve had a great weekend here. It’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had some special music nights and of course, Martin Taylor continues to astound with the ease and fluidity of his play. It’s great to hear some of his approaches, but an added bonus for me is I did not know Peppino. His music and his firm have really impressed me quite a bit, so that’s kind of a bonus to the weekend from what I expected. I’ve met a lot of nice people too. We’ve had some nice exchanges with the other players, exchanges of business cards, etc. I’m hoping it will just be another little push forward down the road to continue musical fun.” – Craig, California, USA

“Hello there. I’m Mike McLeod. I’ve come all the way from the north of Scotland. I found this is one of the most informative weekends, I think, I’ve ever had. I’m not really- in fact, I’m not a jazz guitar player, but it’s been a fantastic weekend. I would recommend it to anyone. It doesn’t matter what kind of guitar you play, there will be some opportunity for you to play the guitar here. You’re playing with all these great jazz guitar players. To see Martin Taylor and Peppino, it’s just unbelievable because you’re seeing things that Martin Taylor would never show an audience. It’s the same with Peppino as well. You also learn to make red sauce. I think they’ll be coming back next year, hopefully. I had a great time and the people in America are fantastic.” – Mike, Scotland
Bob
“Hi. I’m Bob Chimbry. I’m from down south at Anaheim, California. About myself, I started playing as a teenager and in my early twenties, I played bands and gigs and then had to stop to raise a family like, I guess, most people would say. Starting up again as of the last 6-7 years or so. Jazz was something that I kind of put away and I haven’t thought about it in a while, but I love listening to it every day.
I really love hearing Martin Taylor and to come here and get constant exposure to Martin. He tells you what’s going on in his head. It’s just a fabulous experience to understand the psychoanalyst of how he evolved and what he is. Also, getting access to Peppino. I find I relate more to his finger style because that’s what I primarily do for the last 16 years.
I’ve seen him perform other times and it’s just a fabulous experience to have access to these guys and just ask them whatever you want, whatever pops into your head and say, “Hey, how did you overcome this?” Or “How do you approach that?” They sit there and they tell you. You find out that they have the same problems you have. They’re human just like you and it’s a great experience. You take away a lot and you have a lot to work on. I have all my spare time is eaten up now.” – Bob, California, USA
